There is a constant countdown in his head. It stops sometimes, pauses for a day or two, a week tops. The small hand catches at five minutes to the moment where he’s going to look around and know he can’t do this anymore. It’s not like Seunghyun makes the doomsday clock in his head common knowledge but Jiyong has a sixth sense for it. That, or incredible timing. But it’s impossible, really, not to notice the way the times between promising himself he can find a way through this, and knowing he can’t, are getting smaller and shorter.

Beomgyu has no real reason to pick on Yeonjun. Yeonjun’s grades aren’t bad, he’s not a loner, he’s not someone easy to break down— if anything, he’s infuriatingly composed. He never cries, never runs to the teachers, never even lowers his head. He just glares. Sharp, cold, eyes like knives. And for some reason, every time those eyes cut through him, Beomgyu feels something low in his stomach tighten.
So Beomgyu keeps pushing; tripping Yeonjun in the hall, “accidentally” spilling water on his papers, leaning too close with that smug grin that always gets him a glare in return. It should be satisfying to see Yeonjun react, but instead it only makes Beomgyu’s pulse race.
