Everybody is born with Heterochromia, where their right eye is their actual eye-color, while their left one is their soulmate’s, and they would stay like that until you see directly at your soulmate’s eyes. Then, your left eyes will go back to their real color, and you will know you’ve found your other half.

Gendry is told his wife is dead. Arya is told her husband fell in battle. Daenerys is playing a dangerous game with them both, though she tells herself it's for the greater good.
Or, a fic directly inspired by three separate Gendry-is-the-Crown-Prince fics that involved a plotline in which Arya and Gendry are told the other has died to test their loyalties and no one ever wrote Gendry's reaction so here's a whole gallon of straight angst, and a little bit of fluff at the end to make up for it.
