Summary
Baz Pitch is an overworked uni student who -- between his heavy course load and his shifts at his aunt's bookstore -- is stressed all the time. There are expectations on him to follow the family footsteps, and he doesn't want to deal with that right now. His aunt Fiona's bookstore is his one oasis in this (except for on poetry slam nights) and he's glad to have her -- even if she does come with her own brand of crazy.
But when Simon Snow, a lit student with a short temper who's trying to distance himself from his bad history, starts working at the bookstore, Baz's life gets infinitely more stressful. Amidst bad poetry slams, author signings, getting locked in storerooms and gaining a (unwanted) roommate, Baz comes to realise that Simon Snow is so much more than he's prepared to take on.

Scar's throat shivers where Rover licks along his tacet mark.
"I like it."
"How much do you like it? In honor of trust."
"Could come like this. I will if you don't stop."

Scar was, once, long ago, the black lamb from the story he told in the ruined village- cruelty skewed his worldview. He tries to show Rover that trust is not freely given by hugging him, expecting Rover to pull away, and Rover tries to teach him that not everything is black and white by hugging him back. And then Rover accidentally touches his tacet mark. It's all heat and trust from there.

“You’re worried about my reputation?” The farmer asked, tilting his shoulder forward a little as he directed his energy to Alex more head-on.
“You can take it or leave it if you don’t like my advice. I just feel bad for you when you’re at all those holidays, standing on the fringes because nobody wants to dance with you.”
“I am learning a lot about how you feel about me.” The farmer suggested. For some reason, this brought all the heat to Alex’s face in a rush.
“Oh, fat chance.” He snorted. “You couldn’t handle how I feel about you, yankee.” Shit. Why did he say that?

It's the farmer's first winter in Pelican Town, and Alex had grown accustomed to the near-daily small talk they had shared in the milder months. Since the turn of the season, though, the farmer's been especially busy, leaving Alex alone with his thoughts about why that would bother him so much.

Summary
Scar has been content with watching Rover from afar for a while as he goes on about his day.
Until he realized he wasn’t anymore.
He needs to be closer to Rover, even if it means crossing a boundary or two. But for a person who’s infamous for being ‘cruel and twisted’, those are things that never mattered to Scar anyway.
Alternatively: Scar has his way with Rover while he’s sleeping.

“Oh?” A voice from the opening doors of the training room exclaims. Scar already has a grin on his face as he saunters closer to where Rover stands in the empty training room. “You came here alone?” He barks out a laugh. Scar shakes his head, wrapping his arm around the shoulders of Rover. “You didn’t come ask little old me for help?”
Rover shakes Scar off of him, scowling as he backs up away from the man. “I wasn’t aware I needed to ask anyone for help training. You guys just don’t have anything to train with.”
“Why fight something that’s not moving when fighting something that does move is so much better?” Scar moves far enough away from Rover that one could say that they were on completely opposite sides of the room. He raises his fists, adjusts his legs, and smirks. “Come on, fight me, Rover.”
“You want a fight?” Rover asks. Already knowing the answer, he raises his sword. “Then come at me.”
