Summary

But taking care of Lottie means learning to tell what’s real from what isn’t… and sometimes deciding when it’s better not to. And in the middle of all that, something begins to change between them. Maysilee wakes up to find herself in the Capitol, and she's not sure what exactly she did so wrong as to end up in hell. Hell––this has to be––because she's wearing a fashion crime also known as a hospital gown, and she most certainly died.
But she's not dead anymore.
The 50th Hunger Games' Victor, Haymitch Abernathy, killed himself immediately upon winning. Desperate to rectify this blip, and unable to put the 1000 bits of Haymitch back together, the Gamemakers moved down the list of fallen tributes trying to resuscitate them one by one. Silka's brains were mush under Haymitch's axe. Lou Lou's brain was intact, but completely severed from the rest of her body. The rest of the tribute's bodies had long started to rot. Maysilee, despite the President's qualms with her murdering one of the Gamemakers, could be patched up with twelve stitches, a couple pints of donated blood, and some simple card-stacking of the Games' footage.
