Summary
When a kitsune reaches its hundredth year of age, it gains the ability to take the form of a human. At this stage, they are indistinguishable from humans, and cause much mischief in the human world.
At two hundred years, a kitsune’s human form gains a tail. This tail may be concealed with clothing, but not by any shapeshifting magic.
Every hundredth year thereafter, a kitsune will gain another tail. At eight hundred years, a kitsune has seven tails; at nine hundred: eight tails.
When a kitsune reaches a thousand years of age, it gains a ninth tail. Its fur turns a brilliant gold, and it becomes a Tenko, a Sky Kitsune, ascending to the ranks of the divine.
A story of love and loss, spanning across a thousand years.
