Summary
“Well,” Buck says. “I’ve had worst first dates.”
The man looks unimpressed. “We fell fifty feet, got trapped beneath a building, your legs are pinned, and you’re telling me you’ve had worse?”
Buck thinks about this. “Well, Veronica liked the Red Sox.”
or, there’s an earthquake. Buck and Eddie meet trapped together.

Summary
“Sorry,” Eddie says suddenly, with a little frown between his eyebrows that makes Buck’s next breath come in a wheeze. “I didn’t even ask if you’re okay. Any anxiety? Shortness of breath, irregular heartbeat?”
“Not—uh,” Buck coughs, trying so hard to say something normal, but against his best efforts, what comes out is: “Not because of the elevator.”
Eddie’s eyebrows climb up his forehead.
“I’m not claustrophobic, is what I mean,” Buck says, but the damage has been done. “Just, you know.”
or the one in which buck stumbles on the rest of his life in a malfunctioning courthouse elevator.

Summary
"Sorry," Buck says, with an exaggerated wince. "Sorry, sorry, that's not—that's not a proposal, for the record, don't freak out. I was just wondering."
Something about the way he says it makes Eddie wonder if maybe it would be a proposal, if he'd reacted differently just now. He dismisses the thought immediately. Buck is a grand romantic gestures kind of guy. He wouldn't ask Eddie to marry him out of the blue, on the couch, halfway through a Lakers game. Eddie is sure of it.
Mostly sure of it.

Or: Buck asks a question. Eddie dithers.

Summary
"Okay," Buck says finally, muffled. He rubs his face against Eddie's shirt again. "You promise you're not going to dump me if he smashes a salad bowl over this?"
"I promise I will not dump you if our kid has a tantrum about us finally getting our act together," Eddie recites solemnly. Buck laughs against his shoulder and finally pulls back.
Or: Buck and Eddie get around to telling the people they love that they're together.

Summary
"Too bad we can't just date each other."
Eddie laughs. "What?"
"No, I'm serious!" Buck sets his beer down, the better to gesture with both hands, face lighting up, and Eddie just—he really loves the guy, okay. Ridiculous as he is. "It would be so much easier! You wouldn't have to introduce a new person to Chris—he already likes me anyway—and you could tell Pepa so she'll stop setting you up on dates that don't go anywhere—"
"And what would you get out of this?" Eddie asks, grinning.
