"I know what you're thinking, Shads, you're fine." Sonic brushes his thumbs across the hybrid's cheeks, leaning forward to lick at Shadow's face comfortingly. "I was just playing around, nothing you've gotta worry about, gorgeous."
Shadow hums, leaning into Sonic's grooming as he tentatively reaches out to grasp Sonic's hips and pull him into his awaiting lap, breath slowing as he allows himself to fall into the warmth and comforting, thriving power that simmers under a scarred and plump chest. Shadow buries his nose into peach fur as Sonic shifts to lick at the stripe on his forehead.
OR: Shadow has a hard time and Sonic tries to pick up the pieces.

If Shadow has to be honest with himself, he admits he's been having an awful couple of days.
He hasn't been able to stand Sonic; just breathing the same air as him gets him restless. His heart beats frantically, his hands tremble, and his strong exterior longs to yield beneath those emerald green eyes.
He despises it.
And everything's the blue hedgehog's fault.

Summary

Shadow’s legs move before he can stop them, barely closing the door behind him as he rushes over, kneeling in front of Sonic to be eye level with him.
He can smell a change in Sonic’s normal heart rate. His heart is racing, even more so than it usually is.
The change in scent sends signals to Shadow’s mind; old, instinctual ones. Ones he hasn’t had in a long time.
HELP HIM! his mind screams. HE’S GOING TO FAINT! ALERT HIM!
He shakes his head, mentally. Sonic doesn’t faint; at least, not that he’s seen.
Sonic’s not Maria.
And this isn’t a medical episode (to his knowledge); it’s a panic attack.
Although, Maria had had a lot of those, too.

OR 3 times Shadow uses his old service animal training to help Sonic, and the 1 time Sonic is able to help Shadow.
