Summary
Severus cleared his throat again. Merlin, this was difficult. “Potter—” he began quietly, but cut himself off when the boy startled. Potter spun around to face Severus, and that’s when he noticed it. The blood.
It was like a switch, the way all awkwardness traded itself for concern. “What happened?” he asked sharply, eyes zeroing in on the hand that, now not held to Potter’s chest, was dripping blood onto the floor.
What if, instead of fighting Dementors, Harry spent the summer before Fifth Year writing to the nameless, faceless man that he found in a photograph of his mother?

Summary
While dueling with Draco Malfoy on a moving staircase (because both of them are very smart), Harry Potter takes a tumble and slams his head against the banister. He wakes up in the hospital wing without any of his memories. Thankfully, Madam Pomfrey, Hermione, Neville, and Professor Snape are able to clue him in.
Professor Snape? Well, yes, Hermione did tell Harry that he and the Slytherin Head of House share not even the slightest ounce of rapport. However, Harry is very stubborn and optimistic. And happens to be very confident in his instincts, no matter how wrong they may be.

Before the Problem Child can dump another cosmic mystery on him, a man shoots out of the alleyway. He’s tall, with nothing really special about him to identify aside from the knife he holds to Midoriya’s throat. Shouta immediately grips his capture weapon and shifts into his ready-to-kick-ass stance, as Hizashi likes to call it. The kid in question looks nowhere near as scared or shocked as he should with a sharp weapon pointed at his neck.
“Oh,” Midoriya blinks, “This must be the progression.”
