Summary
Dog hybrids have always been a little intriguing to cat hybrid George, certain attributes more interesting than others. He thinks their floppy ears are funny and is fascinated by the way their feet will twitch when you scratch them in just the right spot. Moving in with Dream has given him the ability to see these things firsthand, finding amusement in watching Dream chase his own tail when he’s bored, and how he sulks when George doesn’t pay attention to him. The more George learns about dog hybrids, the more he learns about the physical differences between them and cat hybrids. There’s just one specific trait in particular he wonders about.

“Are you asleep?” George says, slipping in through the door.
“No. Been up for a bit,” Dream manages, his throat rough and thick with disuse.
“Oh. You haven’t left your room all day,” George notes, hovering by the door.
“Just haven't felt great today.”
“Are you sick? Do you have a fever? Here, let me-“ George moves quickly to Dream’s side, his hand coming to rest against Dream’s forehead.
“Not, uh, not like that kind of not feeling great,” He mumbles, skin burning where George is still touching his face.
It almost hurts how caring he sounds. It’s something Dream has always loved about him, the way he’s never able to be serious until the time calls for it. It’s a little overwhelming to suddenly be the subject of genuine emotion.Dream swallows, trying to tell George no, he’s ok, he’ll be fine.
“Will you lay down with me?” He finds himself asking instead.

“There you go,” George puts on his best customer service voice, moving quickly to hand the stranger his drink, and it clicks when he notices a brightly-coloured braided bracelet on the man’s wrist. He’s wearing a few rings too, none that particularly stick out, but George would recognize that bracelet anywhere. There’s a matching blue-coloured one in a drawer in his desk that he tries not to think too much about but can never bear to get rid of.
“Dream.” George blurts out the name before he has the chance to think it through.
or; George and Dream grew up together, then grew apart. Somehow, they're lucky enough to get a second chance.
