    The guy — Alex — grins, evidently not bothered by Tommy's obvious lack of enthusiasm. "Yeah! Seven years, right?"

    "Something like that," Tommy mumbles.

    "Who's your friend?"

    Buck's hackles go up as Tommy raises his eyebrows. After pointedly looking at their joined hands, Tommy says, "This is Evan. My fiancé."

    Alex's eyes zero in on the black band nestled on Tommy's ring finger. "Oh," he says flatly. "Congratulations."
