Summary
In the high-stakes world of Zaun, torn between warring kingdoms and shifting loyalties, Jinx faces an unthinkable choice as her fate is entwined with that of a stranger, Prince Ekko. Tension tightens in the lavish tea room as Silco asserts his influence, pushing Jinx towards an arranged marriage purportedly designed to broker peace among the clashing realms. Vander, her sympathetic father, implores her to band together with the Firelights, urging her that harmony hinges on this union. Yet, as Jinx grapples with the implications of leaving behind her persona and home, she finds herself ensnared in a whirlwind of emotions—from fear to resignation. With the weight of her family's legacy pressing down upon her, the journey to the Firelights looms ahead as a daunting path to either personal freedom or an unwanted role as royalty. Amidst her inner turmoil, a flicker of hope ignites when Ekko, her childhood friend and now her betrothed, offers her a cookie—a simple gesture hinting at their shared past and the possibility of a brighter future. In this intricate tapestry of love, duty, and self-discovery, can Jinx reclaim her lost identity while forging a new alliance, or will she become captive to the very fate she resisted?

“I have to warn you, though; don’t be disappointed if she rejects your proposal. You know how she is.”
“She’s not going to reject it,” Ekko proclaims, sure of himself.
Call him egotistical, he doesn’t care. He knows, deep in his bones, that Powder won’t reject the proposal.
He might as well start weaving her a bridal gown.
(or: at long last it's Ekko and Jinx's wedding week, but, of course, nothing ever goes without a hitch in Zaun.)
