Portgas D Ace didn’t feel in pain when he died. He felt numb, empty, not quite there. His entire life flashed before his eyes and he had never felt so much regret than leaving Luffy alone in the world. Ace regretted not running, but he didn’t regret fighting for Whitebeard’s honor. Before he died in his brother’s arms, Ace thanked Luffy for loving him. Ace died with a smile on his face, a smile for Luffy. Portgas D. Ace was supposed to be dead. He was not supposed to wake up.

Summary
