    Summary

It’s a really unfortunate thing, developing a crush on your husband. Wei Ying had assumed this would be easy. Lan Zhan had been so icy and unpleasant to him, it had never occurred to him that he might end up spending the next however many years with this dumb, burning feeling in his chest whenever he looks at him.

“Okay,” says Wei Ying. “But tell me if I…if the pretending gets to be too hard, okay?”

“It will not,” says Lan Zhan, quietly certain.

    Summary

Wei Ying covers his mouth, eyes wide and tearful, then turns and runs back towards the subway station where the expensive-coat man has disappeared to. He hopes he hasn’t caught his train yet as he runs, giggles bursting out from his chest.

As he enters the station, he glances around and immediately spots the back of the expensive-coat man. He’s waiting patiently among a group of passengers getting on a train. Wei Ying rushes forward and just barely manages to slip the man's wallet into the opposite coat pocket than it was retrieved from. The doors close behind the man, Wei Ying’s hand barely grazing the doors as he pulls it back. The man looks down and pulls his wallet from his pocket, looking confused. He turns, then, golden eyes meeting silver.

Wei Ying’s breath catches. He’s the most beautiful man he’s ever seen. Long, curling lashes framing piercing golden eyes. Pale skin as white and smooth as jade. A sharp jawline leading towards a long neck featuring a prominent Adam's apple. His lips are plump and pink, and Wei Ying wonders what they’d feel like pressed against his own.

Wei Ying grins at the man and mouths, “Just returning your stolen property! Be more careful of pickpockets!”

    Summary

To say that he runs to his car would be incorrect, as he is a Lan, and running is both undignified and unnecessary unless in immediate danger. Nor does he slam his key into the ignition, or aggressively swerve around the cars on the freeway, or have a mild panic attack at the fact he is picking A-Yuan up late from school for the first time ever.

    He comes close, though.

By the time he arrives, it’s 4:35PM, and he has imagined about fifty different worse-case scenarios. The door is partly open when he gets to it, a messy label of 104B—Art Room scrawled with chalk on a placard next to the faded wood. As he opens it fully, he expects to see a wailing, terrified child, or perhaps a scene of utter misery and betrayal.

What he finds is his son, hands covered in paint, being sung to by a beautiful, dark-haired stranger.

“Ducks live in the pond, yellow ducks, happy ducks!”

Lan Wangji stops in his tracks.

    Summary

It was luck that Lan Wangji heard of the plan to confront Wei Wuxian in the Qiongqi Path. It was instinct that had made him accompany Jin Zixuan to suppress any violence from the encounter. It was years of musical cultivation that had turned his ear to a second flute. A second flute intent on changing the course of all their lives.

With the flute's owner in the custody of both Lan Wangji and Jin Zixuan, Wei Wuxian is called to give an account of the incident in Jinlintai, in front of the friends and family he had been hoping to reconcile with. As truths are revealed, Wei Wuxian is confined to the Burial Mounds under the protection of the Lan Clan of Gusu with Lan Wangji acting as personal guard to him and the Wens.

Leading a simpler life, friendships are tested and strengthened, truths are spoken and feelings revealed, teaching all touched by the events that family is strongest when you build it together.

    Summary

Lan Wangji had never had call to perform the spell of silent communication before he and Wei Wuxian joined together to fight Xuanwu. He figured it was temporary. Spoiler alert: it wasn't.

Or: the AU in which Lan Wangji and Wei Wuxian psychically bond in the cave, Wei Wuxian overhears Lan Wangji thinking about the fact that he actually likes him, and after several minutes of confusion, is fully on board with this.
