Summary
“I feel like this thing is gonna swallow me,” Vi chuckles instead, hands poking out to accept the steaming cup.
Caitlyn cups her jaw with a soft, teasing smile. “Hmm well your skin was turning blue, darling.” Vi turns her head, kissing the center of her palm, the smell of rainwater and her perfume making Vi’s heart stutter. She kisses it again.
The ceramic warms her hands, but her insides are warmer for other reasons. One of them being the way Cait’s lips feel against the shell of her ear. “I’ll go run us a bath,” she says, promise and comfort dripping from her tone.
“Mmm and what if I wanted a bath to myself?” Vi teases, turning her head to try and catch Caitlyn’s lips.
Caitlyn pulls back, her knee pressing into the mattress next to Vi’s hip where she kneels over her. She quirks a brow in genuine question. “Do you?”

Summary
“Piltover?” Vi asks, looking back at Ekko who just shrugs. She takes a step closer to Caitlyn, invading her space. “Let me ask you something– Caitlyn–was it?” Her voice is so close to her face. “You got a last name?” Caitlyn feels her stomach drop at the question.
“Well, actually…this might sound mad–” Caitlyn starts. She turns away from Vi, in need of some reprieve. She rubs her brow with the tips of her fingers, as if she could conjure up a better answer. “I don’t know my last name. I was found wandering around when I was about nine years old,” Caitlyn says sheepishly.
Vi nods, as if she understood. “And, uh, before that– before you were nine?” She brings her finger to her chin.
“Look, I know I must sound ridiculous, but I genuinely don’t remember. I have– very few memories of my past.” Caitlyn looks down at her hands clasped in front of her now. Her thumbs rub together.
Vi looks back at Ekko again, huffing a small laugh.
“Well I do have one clue, I suppose. And that is Piltover."

Summary
The dragon keeps her distance this time, not daring to approach Caitlyn again. The prince dares only a few more steps into the clearing, grass tickling the edges of her knees. The dragon lowers her head, steel eyes narrowed. But… not threatening. Caitlyn can hardly breathe at the sight of them again.
“It’s you,” Caitlyn hears herself whisper as she crouches in the tall grass. The dragon chuffs, nostrils flaring with a low rumbling sound. She can see the way the muscles tense even from here a whole clearing away.
They sit there, unmoving with a sea of wild grass between them until the sound of another pair of wings whooshing high above startles them both. Caitlyn doesn’t move, heart thrumming as she waits for the moment to turn, for the dragon to remember herself and end Caitlyn once and for all. Or for her companion to land and finish the job. But instead, red wings take to the skies again, the clouds swallowing her whole.

Summary
“Have any of you seen combat?” she dares to ask. It was the first question she wanted to ask the moment she entered the room, the answer already clear in the nuisance of their house banners flooding the throne room, decorative feathers and jewels hanging from all of them. Peacocks among wolves.
They all stare at her with red stained cheeks. “Real combat,” Caitlyn clarifies when one of the knights begins to step forward, his stature of someone who’s barely seen the sun outside of a brothel. He steps back only for the nameless knight to take a step forward.
Caitlyn doesn’t recall closing the distance, something in the knight acting as a siren call to the princess. “You,” Caitlyn states simply. It isn’t a judgement or an accusation. But remembrance. The way her gloved fingers felt when taking the favor from Caitlyn’s hands, her helmet still hiding the whole of her face.
“The one and only, Princess” she quips quietly. She doesn’t bow her head as the others had when she met them at eye level. No. This knight raises her chin. Not in defiance but in something Caitlyn can only describe as a challenging reverence.
