Summary
Kojiro cursed under his breath as he made his way to the dining room from the kitchen, wondering both who had left the door unlocked and who had now come in.
“Sorry, we’re closed—” He stopped short as he came around the corner into the dining room, a soaking wet, pink-haired kid staring with wide golden eyes back at him—
Golden eyes red-rimmed and swollen.
“S-sorry,” the kid said, absently tucking wet hair behind his ear, showing off several piercings before tonguing his lip ring nervously. “I—it just smelled so good.”
Kojiro blew a sigh out his nose. “Flattery will get you everywhere,” he muttered.
“Sorry,” the guy said again. “I didn’t realize you were closed. The—the door was open—”
“I know,” Kojiro said. “You can come in, if you want. Get out of the rain, anyway. And it’s prep day so there’s no service, but uh…if you’re hungry—”
The kid’s face snapped up almost comically, blatantly interested. He wiped at his face, flicking away the rain (and tears) around his eyes, straightening himself.
“What’s your name?” Kojiro asked as he came back with two plates, setting one across the counter for his unexpected guest.
“Cherry.”

Whatever that something is was not this though: Kaoru lying on his couch, one glass of red down and tapping out a heartfelt message to Kojiro: I miss you.

“I’ll wash up first so that I can make you a birthday breakfast.” He announced it while leaning down to gently settle the glasses in the rightful spot above Kaoru’s nose. His humongous hands slide over Kaoru’s temple and the upper cartilage of his ears as he does, Kojiro’s face inches away from his own. “Is that to your satisfaction, hm?” The subtle purr in his tone is nearly seductive, reminding him of his flirty nature.
See, Kaoru hears the question loud and clear, but the words swoop into one ear and out of the other when Kojiro’s voice pours into his head once again.
“If only that dream was real and you were mine.”
Or: thirty years of virginity grants Kaoru the power to read minds through physical contact.
