“You’re sweating, a lot.”
Charles ran his hand up and down Max’ left arm. Max mentally slapped himself and told himself to keep his shit together as he could feel Charles’ warm breath against his neck, making him flush red to the tip of his ears. He was glad the lights were off so Charles couldn’t see how red he was.
“It’s fine, this is…normal,” Max breathed out in a croaky voice, leaving himself cringing at the way his voice cracked at the end.
Max laid on the bed in silence for a minute, thinking he would get a response from Charles but he noticed the person next to him was already fast asleep, his hand still resting on Max’ bicep.
or: Max Verstappen is insecure with a troubled past and Charles Leclerc is extremely popular and is loved by everyone. Their lives unexpectedly meet and things change.

Thankfully he can’t see if Charles is online or not, because truly, that would only make it worse—he doesn’t use his phone often, on account of his father, but he does know that that option only unlocks after both have saved the other’s number.
He sinks a little into the pile of fabric below him, cold all of a sudden. Looks at the time on top of the screen, glances back down, rubs his hands together to get some feeling into his freezing fingers, contemplates some more.
“Fuck. I’m pathetic.”
He clicks send.
