Red moved to sit on the floor in front of her and took the phone off her hands, eyes skimming through the texts. “Wait— You have a date to the Ball?”
Chloe lifted up her head, pouting. “No.”
“But you said you did.”
“I know.”
“Why would you do that?”
“Because I’m an idiot.” Chloe answered.
(Or: Chloe invites Red to the Masquerade Ball in celebration of her parents' anniversary. It's all fun and games until everyone believes the two of them have officially started dating)

“If I never used it to harm anyone, I know. But it was an accident! Nothing would’ve happened if Red wasn’t pushing me around, trying to get in my face!”
“Before you say anything,” The Principal interjects right as soon as Red opens her mouth. “A little colorful bird told one of my pirates that you did push her first and that Chloe Charming was yelling at you to stop.”
Squinting, Red clenches her jaw and hisses. “I’m gonna kill Dizzy.”
“Here’s what’s happening," Uma clasps her hands together. “You have detention."

Her eyelashes flutter, and it is weak. It is what her mother, the Queen of Hearts, would have called weak; she leans anyway. Chloe’s hand hovers, provides the barest hint of pressure against Red’s cheek like an offering, and Red clings to it. Presses her face just a breath closer until it’s cupped in the flat of Chloe’s palm.
