It was as if all hell suddenly broke loose. Perhaps Johann naively assumed he wouldn't be able to hear them down the hall, having left the garden and closed the glass doors behind him, but they were coughing and retching so loudly it would've woken up the dead if there were actual corpses buried in the dirt beneath their feet.
Annoyed, he turned back, ready to give them another earful. However, as he peered through the glass doors into the garden Johann had insisted on caring for, he paused.
His creation opened their mouth, delicately picking a bloodstained flower petal off their tongue. They held it with two fingers, giving it an inquisitive stare as if it would telepathically answer all their questions. Where had it come from? Why was it there? Had it somehow made its way into their lungs, only to be coughed up now?
At least, those were the questions Lushifel was asking. Johann, on the other hand, seemed to have their answer already.
