I’m insane about this one. For the first two arcs it’s a really interesting and intriguing story about new characters in a different setting and it doesn’t really play with emotions too much. It makes you feel just as hardened as Sloan. Arc three turns around and punches you in the feels when you aren’t goddamn expecting it and it’s suddenly just like the canon stuff Again

(Rec is for both fics in the series; they are two halves of the same story) Nothing short of high art. The deep, boundlessly perfect understanding of each and every single character featured in this story serves as an eternal foundation upon which the storytelling is built. The empathy with which everyone’s plight is portrayed pours into the emotion of every interaction in every scene. And by god, the THEME. Not in years, perhaps not *ever*, have I read a fanfic this potently thematically sound. Homura and Madoka as foils taken to the furthest possible extreme. I can only hope that Walpurgisnacht Rising reaches one iota of the level this fic operates upon (though I remain mortified that it will focus too hard on the horror elements and become traumatizing to watch). Peak fiction, once again.

This was absolutely brilliant. Since getting into the PMMM universe back in May I’ve always been hungry for something the stories have intentionally excluded, and that’s hope. These characters have a massive, massive deficit of the stuff, and that’s why DW crossovers kinda fit like a glove. The two Sayakas, the throwing Homura off script, the still-mysterious Miss Jones (was she Missy? I couldn’t tell for sure even by the end), the Madoka being Madoka without having to make a contract with Kyubey, oh it’s so GOOD! And I love love looooove Time Lady Sayaka. I can only hope she and the Doctor eventually meet proper… A thousand thank yous again for writing this!
