Summary
The opportunity arose on an inconsequential Friday evening in the middle of a particularly warm spring.
Lan Zhan had a certain reputation amongst the queer community of his university— a fantastic lay people only get to experience once. It's been a not-so-silent understanding between all of his previous partners that it was well worth the heartbreak of not getting another chance. As bad as it felt to admit, Lan Zhan did not care what his partners thought. He was there for two reasons only.
Reason number one: to practice becoming the best lover for Wei Ying.
Reason number two: to get off as much as possible to avoid claiming Wei Ying randomly in public.
See, Lan Zhan had a problem. He was madly, desperately, head over heels in love with his best friend, Wei Ying. Normally, this wouldn't be a problem. Anyone with eyes could see that Wei Ying was also madly, desperately, head over heels in love with Lan Zhan.

Summary
Desperate for protection from the Wen sect, the Jiang sect sent out two proposals to the Jin and Lan sects respectively. When the Lan sect agrees to their terms, Wei Ying finds himself married to an alpha whose name he doesn't know and whose face he never sees. But that's okay because Wei Ying is great at deductive reasoning and he was able to figure out that he had been married off to none other than Lan Qiren. If that's not bad enough, apparently Lan Zhan (Wei Ying's favorite Lan) is also married and his omega is neglecting him. Even though his own marriage is a sham and he's found himself all alone, he doesn't want the same fate for his friend. But how can the two of them be happy with things as they are?
