I'm so frightened, is a shameful thought that eats away at her, as she shakes like a leaf, day in and day out, gnawing at her bones, licking her face, biting into her neck, dragging her by the scalp, like a rabid animal that looks half man, half monster. It controls her as easily as a puppet with taut strings.
Her fear is visceral, razor sharp and cold as ice, mercilessly cutting away at her meat, the soft tissue of her lungs easily giving away like butter, splitting into two, a trembling and shaking heart, and even down to her belly where fragile guts, bloodied and slick with fluids, wait to be plucked out.
Something taps her, lightly, like a featherlight ghost, like a sharp nail—claw. A feeling akin bleeding from her stomach, though just a little, a hint, or a cold trail. She supposes that's her prayers, answered.

Or, Hinako has felt someone watching her for a long time, courting her in his own way through different offerings: letters professing his love, spilled blood, marked territory. She isn't as scared as she used to be, back when it first happened. However, she will never not feel his gaze.
