"I saw a merboy," you murmured to Shiloh, hopefully quiet enough that Lizzie wouldn't hear and start up a fuss again.
"What's a merboy?" He asked, grey eyes wide. You couldn't tell if they were sparkling from excitement or disbelief.
"Like a mermaid, but just a boy," you explained. "He looked my age. And he had all these shells, but dropped them when he went back in the water." You opened your fist to show him all of the seashells tucked inside. Then you showed him the green piece of sea glass. "His hair was this exact color."
"How could someone's hair be green?" He questioned, one eyebrow higher than the other.
"Merpeople hair can be all kinds of colors," you said matter-of-factly.

When you found out that Tighnari had declined his master's offer at a post in the Akademiya, you were more than elated he was finally out of the picture. However, due to your former professor's insistence, you find yourself venturing the rainforest to convince him to rethink his decision. (As if he'll actually listen to his longtime rival, but you concede anyway.)
Which is why, when you spot him talking to the trainee watchers with a gentle yet stern expression, looking as if everything he's achieved culminated into what he is today, you can't help but feel mixed emotions.
