“You’re as cuddly as ever, though,” Yoongi notes. His hand comes up to pat Jimin’s head, as though he were just another cat. “Thank God for small mercies.”
“I’m your calico cat, here to see you,” Jimin susurrates, the melody easily coming back to him. “Love me now, touch me now.”
“There, there,” Yoongi says, patting a little harder. “I am touching you.”
“Noo,” Jimin complains. “You have to love me, too, or it doesn’t count.”
It’s surprisingly easy to say it like that, to just phrase it as a demand. It doesn’t hurt as much as he thought it would before Yoongi came to visit him in New York. He’s not over him, not yet, and perhaps he never will be. But for the first time he thinks that perhaps he didn’t uselessly waste himself on this. That, even if he is falling in love again with every day in Yoongi’s presence, he won’t let himself regret it.
“You are. So needy ,” Yoongi teases, but his touch turns gentler and then he is just idly playing with Jimin’s hair. “I missed this, you know,” he says, thoughtfully. “After the disbandment and then after our service, everything happened so quickly and suddenly you were just gone. I feel like we never had the time to talk.”
There’s an unspoken question there, Yoongi’s continued confusion about just why Jimin had so hastily left for the States. And Jimin will tell him, eventually. After all…
“Now we have all the time in the world,” he says with a smile, and Yoongi doesn’t even object. They’d write their album and who knows what might still grow from that.
