Perhaps the most heartbreaking consequence of this promise to erase Andrea is that the expensive clothes are wasted. Stuffed to the back of her closet, because she is unable to look at them. (In her weaker moments, she puts the clothes on and imagines they still smell like Andy. Even though she knows it is a lie.) All she can hear when she catches a glimpse of them gathering dust is the dial tone ringing and ringing and nobody picking up.
