Summary
Charlotte and Sidney met when they were young, fell in love but were separated when Sidney moved away for university. Events in the years that pass mean that Sidney and Charlotte travel very different paths than the one they had set out together in their teenage years.
Sidney is back in Sanditon, determined that his return isn't just a return to a town he once called home but to a person who made everywhere home.
Charlotte has spent the years, listening to stories about Sidney's life from his brother Tom and avoiding any events where she might bump into the man who took her heart and left it shattered in pieces on the cliffs.
Will Sidney be able to convince Charlotte that they are meant to be together, and will Charlotte be able to forgive Sidney for leaving her?

Summary
"But Brinshore, sir, which I dare say you have in your eye - the attempts of two or three speculating people about Brinshore this last year to raise that paltry hamlet - lying as it does between a stagnant marsh, a bleak moor and the constant effluvia of a ridge of putrefying seaweed - can end in nothing but their own disappointment. What in the name of common sense is to recommend Brinshore?"
-Tom Parker, Jane Austen's Sanditon
Sidney and Charlotte are forcing themselves to come to terms with their lot but fate has other ideas.

Summary
As the eldest daughter of a gentleman farmer, it is Charlotte’s duty to marry and, if at all possible, marry well. When the opportunity to accompany Lady Worcester during London’s Season presents itself, she is ushered into a world where only two acceptable roads lay before a young woman: matrimony or spinsterhood.
Sidney Parker is a successful businessman decidedly not in want of a wife. In fact, the only prospect more unappealing would be to become saddled with a witless and unworldly country girl for the rest of his life.
