Summary
William ran. The city blurred around him. Skeletons of fallen skyscrapers, destroyed rubble of businesses, lifeless bodies – they were all around as he sprinted. His injured foot left a dotted trail of blood after him, each step becoming sharper than the last. The glass shards still embedded in the sole of his foot burned, grinding deeper with every strike of the pavement. He pushed past the pain anyways, even when he heard desperate pleas cried out behind him. It pulled at his heartstrings for some reason. This mark wasn’t his mark. He killed so many, including one of his classmates. So why do I feel so bad?
Because he looks like Mark, William’s mind helpfully supplied.
Oh, bite me.
