Summary
When the first petal coughed itself out of Katsuki’s throat and settled delicately on the floor, Katsuki’s disbelief settled with it.
Within the first week, Kirishima noticed. He picked up a single tiny, green petal and let out a small sigh. Barely a release of breath, as though it was something he’d known for a while. When he looked back up at Katsuki, he smiled sadly.
They’d broken up that day.
Katsuki hadn’t wanted to. He’d fought, claiming that the flowers meant nothing. However, Kirishima was resolute.
“The flowers are your soul calling out for someone else. You can’t keep fighting this, Katsuki.”
He said it in that knowing way, as though he knew Katsuki had been suppressing this part of him and that it was finally making itself known in the only way it knew how to.
But Katsuki would not listen.
He’d gone to Recovery Girl in search of a way to get rid of the diseases quite literally taking root in his chest cavity. However, even she would give him an answer to resemble his ex-boyfriend’s.
“You must confront this person, otherwise, my boy, you may die.”
And yet, Katsuki was stubborn. Pointedly, ignoring the itch in his throat and tightness of his chest.
