It was his turn to sigh: a static-y sound, garbled by the distance and shitty satellite service. "I know, I know, and I’m sorry. Like I said, I wouldn’t be asking if it wasn’t important. The “World Ending Event” kind of important.”
A pleading silence fell over the line, and you couldn’t help but hold your breath in expectation of your own words. Your lip was raw where you’d been worrying it absentmindedly. Marc had stopped calling you six months ago, maybe this had something to do with it.
“I’m . . . Yeah, I guess I can dig one of my old passports out of the closet. But this really better be worth it.”
