Summary
The Gutterman makes a decision.
After taking off its coffin, the Gutterman placed it upright against a wall. It then pried open the coffin clumsily. Inside was the human that had fueled it for so, so long.
It places its hand against the side of the human’s fragile head.
In a split second, the human’s head leans ever so slightly into the Gutterman’s hand. Their eyes open slightly. It most likely didn’t see the Gutterman at all, but the Gutterman noticed their small movements. After it begins to feel itself shaking, it pulls away.
It realizes that it can’t find the strength to kill the one that gave it life.

The Gutterman plots to finally kill the human that resides in its coffin, thereby eventually killing itself. But when it notices that its beloved human somehow still has some level of consciousness, it can’t bring itself to cause it harm. So instead, the Gutterman makes a bold move to navigate out of Violence and into a layer more fit for the sustainment of a human life. Unfortunately for the Gutterman, it has no clue as to how to take care of a human, especially one in its current state within its casket, so it may need some assistance along the way.

normally i dont check the tags for fandoms i like on ao3 but today on the day i bookmarked this i got curious. it just so happened that the first one that popped up was this fic. i was confused for a sec bc i had read a few other machinecoolant fics and i wondered whether ao3 was working right in sorting fics from newest to oldest. turns out it was, lol. what a welcome little surprise!
very enjoyable and sweet fic. always love to see v2 and mirage, especially if its one learning something from the other

“I don’t know why it does that.” Giorno hummed in question and Fugo gestured towards Purple Haze, who was now petting Giorno just like Giorno had been petting it a few seconds ago. “I didn’t think stands cared for affection.”
“I mean, they’re a part of us.” Giorno pulled away from Purple Haze to reach for his shirt. Purple Haze whimpered and kept its arms around Giorno’s waist, not calming down until Giorno gave it a kiss on the forehead. “Maybe they sometimes want attention the way humans do.”
Purple Haze drooled all over Giorno’s shirt and Fugo winced. “Humans aren’t like this, though.”

“So, what I’m saying is, if people stopped eating meat and ate, like, plants instead, they’d taste great.” Mista slipped some of the food off his plate and into his pocket, presumably for the Sex Pistols, but it was also quite possible that Mista was just like that. “But most people eat meat, so that’s why human meat is nasty.”
“Yeah. Okay… by your logic, vegetarians would taste great, then, because they only eat plants,” Ermes pondered allowed, then scrutinized Jolyne at her side.
Jolyne squinted at her. “Babe, if you’re thinking about eating me, I’ll have to decline.”
Ermes then looked to Giorno and he quickly reached down to take Fugo’s hand. “I’m married.”
“I’m not gonna eat either of you!” Ermes held her hands up defensively and Foo cackled, and Ermes stuck her tongue out at them. “I was just thinking about it.”
