Tears filled the teenage girl’s violet-colored eyes as she waited for something—anything—to happen. She expected the boy to clutch his chest in pain, or crumble to the grass below, but all he did was stare at her, awkwardly, as silence encircled the pair. Enough time passed for him to send her a tight-lipped smile.
