It’s these words that propel him forward. “Hanunue,” Mikhail reaches up to grasp his shoulder, “I’m going to help you.”
“Why is that the only time you don’t try to speak for us, it’s something we all agree on?” Tiernan grumbles before drawing himself up, spine straight and arms by his sides. Razalina nods beside him, determination set in her face despite her brush with death. “The Astral Express is honored to lend you their aid.”
Hanunue slowly turns to face them, guarded but anticipating.
“Mikhail Char Legwork.” Mikhail extends his hand. “Breukelen Tiernan, Razalina Jane Estella.”
Hanunue takes it in silence. His fur, even slick with blood and medicine, is warm against Mikhail’s palm.

Soren knows he can leave it at that. He can excuse himself, and Ike will let him go, always so conscious of his need for privacy. He can escape to the tent he’s had to himself ever since Ike was granted his title and, in the next battle, pretend that his new affinity for staves serves to diversify his skillset from the newest sage in the army. He can save his newly learned magic for the most dire of wounds, ones that Rhys and Mist won’t reach in time.
But he’s never been good at concealing parts of himself from Ike. He already has one poorly-kept secret—another, no matter how insignificant, just might break him.
“I couldn’t bear it,” he confesses in a whisper. He looks away, trying to busy himself with tracking the swirls of dust that dance through the sunlight. He can’t bring himself to see Ike’s face, no doubt weighted with pity. “If you died, we… I couldn’t go on.”

Summary
With Tomoaki’s usual bravado and his tall stature, it’s easy to forget that he’s just another young vagrant, only a few years older than Kazuha himself. Perhaps Kazuha was too quick to judge, too eager to force him up onto the pedestal of an authority figure that he never wanted to be.
Kazuha hasn’t had to follow instructions in a long time, but he recognizes a request when he hears one.
“Tomo,” he says, and he purposefully does not turn to look at the way the other man’s eyes widen or at the brightness that creeps back across his face. Perhaps he should have done this sooner. “I think it may be fate that we’ve met each other as fellow wanderers.”

“You called out for me,” Xiao whispers.

“Tell me,” Zhongli insists. “I will remember.”
Childe tells him once, and then twice, and he watches as Zhongli’s lips trace out each digit.
