Or in which when Miles Matheson was dying, Bass Monroe triggered the nanobots to open a portal into another universe – a parallel Earth where his dear friend could be healed. But in doing so, he became an offspring of Shub Niggurath, tasked to collect souls for his cosmic Mother to devour. Meanwhile, Miles was disintegrated and forced into an endless cycle of death and rebirth, only becoming accessible to Bass once he reached full maturity same as his original form.
But the present incarnation was already falling apart, already broken down by so many heartaches. Bass must do everything in his power to alleviate the pain, or he’d have to wait another five hundred years.

Gollum began to get out of his boat. He flapped into the water and paddled to the bank; Bilbo could see his eyes coming towards him. His tongue seemed to stick in his mouth; he wanted to shout out: “Give me more time! Give me time!” But all that came out with a sudden squeal was:
“Time! Time!”
But what if he didn’t? What if Bilbo actually said what was on his mind?
OR: an alternative look on what would have happened if Bilbo hadn’t accidentally gotten the answer to Gollum’s riddle – from Gollum’s perspective.
