Summary
All great tales begin with a doorway, whether literal or figurative. However, though the adventure it leads us to may be grand, the portal itself is rarely given its due.
"The chaos of everything and the piercing absence of it all. This paradoxical existence is the true nature of the doorway, for it is a gateway to the impossible, the fantastic, the beautiful, and the chaotic world of dreams, where anything or nothing is possible is one only stays long enough to enjoy it."
(I'm not typically a fiction writer, but I was proud of how well this turned out and thought others might like it too.)

Summary
Jason shoved his jacket and helmet into his backpack with a sigh. He hadn't come up with a single way to properly reveal himself—for the second time. The first time, he'd been focused on making something poetic, dramatic, satisfying of it all. But with just a few words, it'd all been meaningless.
World's Greatest Detective, my ass.
OR
Due to a series of mishaps, Bruce doesn't know that Jason is Red Hood, and subsequently, neither does anybody else in Gotham.

Summary
"Do hobbits not have Ones then?" Fíli asked curious.
"Uh, no we don't." Bilbo told him truthfully.
"That's sad," Kíli said.
"Well, we have soulmates." Bilbo smiled. "And heart tattoos, which I'm sure you know of."
"Heart tattoos?" Ori joined in the conversation.
"What?" Bilbo looked stricken. "You don't have heart tattoos?"

Summary
Mahal's Halls spread through every mountain range in Aman. Dori had listened to his brothers go on about their adventures, how Ori had found the company of scribes in the Mountain's vast libraries and how Nori had joined the ranks of Spymasters of old. Dori had smiled and sat back, content to listen as the rest of their Company found new lives in the seat of their Maker's Halls.

Summary
In Tim’s haze of fire, he ends up with a thought that turns everything into ice.
It’s been a year since he came back with Bruce and he never got an apology.
So Tim walks up to his older brother who’s now taken a step backward with slightly widened eyes at the smile- the cold and very wide grin that’s taken place on Tim’s face very quickly, very suddenly -and he walks straight up to the man in front of him, puts his hands on his shoulders, and knees him straight in the dick.
Casually stepping over his older brother practically crying on the edge of the platform, and ignoring the gobsmacked look shared among Tam, the security guards, and most of the press who caught it all on camera, he walks over to wooden stand with the microphone and begins nonchalantly talking about the unfortunate mistake made by someone he doesn't care about in a division that’s so unimportant he was literally thinking about shutting it down a few weeks ago.
The questions asked by the press weren’t on topic at all.

Summary
There’s not really a point in owning a car, especially with the cost of insurance. With the threat of student debt looming overhead like a cloud, Bernard can’t afford to buy a car without help, and there’s no way he’ll ever ask Tim.
So Bernard doesn’t really drive. He’s happy to let his weirdly specific driving skills get swept under the rug, because the thing he has with Tim still feels delicate and new, and he doesn’t want to ruin it by bringing up that his uncle was in a gang and hey, he just happened to teach Bernard how to drive. Bernard wants to avoid any kind of conversation around crime in Gotham, actually. Especially after what happened in high school.
It’s not like he’s ever going to need to drive a getaway car, anyway. As far as Bernard is concerned, it’ll never come up.
Bernard learned to drive from his henchman uncle. The last place he expects to use this skill is at a dinner with his boyfriend's family.
