Caitlyn panicked, feeling extraordinarily unprepared having been thrust into her new position without so much as even a handbook to consult. What were the formalities? What was she supposed to respond with? Where was the damn push to talk button…
“Hellooo? I said Houston, do you copy?”
Caitlyn fiddled with her headset, having finally found the green button on the side and hastily letting out a rather breathless reply. “Um, yes. Hello? This is Houston. I copy.”
There was a long pause in which Caitlyn sat twiddling her thumbs, anxiety pushing the frantic pulse of her heartbeat through her eardrums. Was that wrong? Did she already fuck up? She took a steady deep breath, finger hovering over the talk button until the familiar voice of the astronaut came through her headset once more.
“Damn, Houston. I didn’t expect you to sound so sexy.”

Caitlyn has been assigned as the personal capcom to one of the astronauts currently on a year long expedition at the international space station. Cue long months of pining and desperate longing.

Quiet grants them a second chance at composure before going back into the cacophony of madness that is life amongst tricksters, backstabbers and thieves that would sooner replace them than extend an olive branch.

Caitlyn watched for longer than she should have. It was captivating. The girl, who was actually the thing Caitlyn found so captivating, was landing calculated punches, highlighting the well built muscles on her back and arms. Caitlyn couldn’t see her face, and she wasn’t sure what she’d do if she did.
Far off voices broke her trance, and she could hear them coming closer. Caitlyn realized how this looked, and her cheeks flushed red. She, a Kiramman, couldn’t possibly be caught drooling over a girl working out. Her mother would surely be disappointed. But, the footsteps were getting closer, and her body moved before her brain did.
She pushed the door open and stumbled inside, earning the attention of the girl in the room.
