Clark sees a lonely man. And he's not having it.

A story of getting to know someone at rock bottom before you see them on best behavior.

    Summary

The door swings in and open. A large figure, most of it covered in a forest green cloak, ducks through the door to avoid banging its head. When it straightens itself it is almost twice Sanji’s height. A wave of orange curls part around two lightly speckled ears, spotted orange fur that glows warm in the sparse candlelight, and frame one burning yellow eye.

Which stares. And stares some more. The jaw below it, jutting with huge fangs that could surely chomp Sanji’s throat into mincemeat, does not part to explain what the heck this rather large jaguar mink is doing in Sanji’s mess of an unopened restaurant well before sunrise.

    -

A once in a lifetime forbidden meeting with Captain Pedro could easily turn into something akin to romance, if only Sanji knew what the hell was going on.

    Or: Love, despite cultural misunderstandings.

    Summary

You’re not sure exactly when Clark started coming down to the cafe, but you are sure that he doesn’t belong here. Not in a snobby way, more in a—you are clearly from a much, much better plane of existence than all of these other assholes kind of way. You’re used to people who don’t make eye contact, who steal way too much Splenda and leave their phones on speaker, who mumble their orders while reading off an open Google Doc. He's different.

He holds doors open. Says thank you like it’s a full sentence. He apologizes when he’s the one getting bumped into.

And, crucially, he smiles at the espresso machine. As opposed to you.

    Summary

“You have no idea,” he groans, breaking away just enough to speak, chin slick, eyes dark, pupils blown wide, “what this does to me.”

It’s true. You don’t know what it’s like for him, not entirely. You don’t know how loud you are in his head.

The sound of your pulse hammering under the layers of your skin. The flutter of your lashes. The heat blooming just beneath your navel. The slick parting of you when you clenched around nothing as he kissed his way down your stomach.

You’ve talked about it before—quietly, breathlessly, the few times he let himself admit how different this is for him. What it’s like.

You smell like heaven to him. That’s what he said once. Whispered it, almost ashamed, as if saying it out loud might make you think less of him and not want him even more.
