Neil laughs harshly. “Andrew, it’s me. I’m real. You’re not that crazy.”
“My dead boyfriend is in front of me, implying the FBI helped him fake his death.” Another drag. “I could use a different word, if you prefer. Psychotic, schizophrenic, delusional. Find me a thesaurus, would you?”
“Boyfriend,” Neil echoes.
“Whatever you were.” Andrew stubs his cigarette out on the step between his feet. “Whatever we were going to be if your father hadn’t disemboweled you.”
Neil is dead, until he isn't.

I hate the cheating trope but this isn't technically cheating because they never talked about what they are... lots of angst

“He went to juvie for a few years,” Matt says. “There’s a rumor that he’s killed someone, or maybe it was two people. Anyways, people call him a psychopath. He always carries at least ten knives on him at all times.”
“Ten knives,” Neil repeats blandly.
“Just telling you what I’ve heard,” Matt says with a shrug.
