Tim's parents are going on another dig. And this is expected behavior, but Tim is getting lonely, so he comes to the really smart decision to demand his neighbors (the Wayne's) to let him stay there while his parents are away. He leaves out the fact that they're going to be gone for a bit longer than a weekend, and the Wayne's currently hate his guts.
Can healing happen? Can Tim grow a conscious? Is it possible for them to become family? 2/3 of these things happen within this fic.

When it starts, it’s easy to hide.
He knows how Bruce would respond: "Emotional maladjustment," with a stiff mouth and a posture that says he has too much on his plate to deal with this. Dick would… probably cry, even if he didn’t show his tears to anyone, and then he’d feel responsible, though Tim is hardly a child. If he ever found out, Jason would call him a fucking idiot before storming away. And Damian… well, he’d be happy and snipe that Tim should go deeper next time.
