He grabbed the mug in his right hand but had applied too much pressure on the tips of his fingers, curling them too tightly against the porcelain, sending a waterfall of pain coursing through his fingers. He yelped and let go of the mug, dropping it and letting it shatter, spilling hot chocolate across the recently cleaned floorboards.

But now, with all his focus trained on the blonde boy – someone who should have been a stranger – it was undeniable to Kai whose face he was looking at.
