The ninja could only watch in horror as energy continued to enter Lloyd’s body, shaking horribly before a scream and bright light ripped through the air. When the ninja looked back after the light faded, they saw specks of green light falling, but something bigger too. Kai quickly flew up and grabbed it before it could fall; he didn’t know what it was, but…
There was a sob. Looking down, it was Lloyd’s gi, now in tatters, but a baby now in the middle, blond hair with green wet eyes. With one hand supporting the baby’s back, he felt wings and a tail, and he could see tiny horns peeking out of the blond hair. “Lloyd…”
He flew back down where the others gathered. “Is that…Lloyd?”
“It is,” Zane said as he scanned him, seeing that the energy readings matched. Kai’s eyes did not leave the baby, who let out a whine. “Shh, it’s okay, Bud. I got you,” he said as he gently bounced him.
“How did this happen?” Jay asked as he looked at the now-younger Lloyd.
“I do not know,” Zane sighed. “At least he’s alive…”
“I would say this is the best outcome for that,” Nya added.
The ninja were on their way back to Ninjago. They stocked up on supplies like food and medical aid, but also diapers, bottles, and extra blankets for the now-transformed Green Ninja. Kai refused to let go of him; he growled low at Zilvar when he went over to apologize again, yes Lloyd was alive and okay, but he still caused their current predicament!
Their dragon transformations have yet to fade, but Kai removed his hood a while ago and lay in one of the beds, now padded with extra blankets, curled around the sleeping baby.
“Looks like Kai’s taken the mother role,” Cole whispered as he sat with the others, being quiet as Kai and Lloyd were still in the room.
“Kai laid eyes on him first; these dragon forms may have come with dragon instincts. He must have imprinted on Lloyd.”
“That’s honestly not too different than normal. I mean, he’s always been protective; this is just a new level.”
“We may need to stop and get more supplies when we get to the Crossroads,” Jay suggested from his spot at the wheel.
Right… who knew how long Lloyd would be in this form, if it was even temporary…
High chair, crib, maybe some toys, etc. The trainees were in for a surprise when they got back.
Jay looked over his shoulder at the sleeping Fire Ninja, his tail curling around the sleeping babe.
The younger ninja looked on in shock at their master now reduced to a baby, still wrapped up in his old gi. Kai held him close to his chest. “What happened?” Arin asked as he stared.
“We are not sure, but…we will look into it and…see if there is anything to be done,” Zane answered.
“Well, he is a cute baby,” Sora said as she looked closer at the bundle.
“Once we unpack everything, you can tell us everything that happened while we were gone,” Cole said, smiling.
Jay was reading a comic when he heard it, and following the sound, he saw Lloyd crawling. Where was Kai?
He peeked in the living room and saw Kai passed out in the nest he set up in the middle of the room. He’s been insistent on taking care of Lloyd, including the late-night feedings.
Jay went after the baby; he saw the tail disappear as he went into the library. He was quick to follow and saw Lloyd smacking one of the cobblestone walls. “Ba! Ba!”
“What’cha doing, lil’ guy?” he reached down and picked him up. “Couldn’t sleep?”
Lloyd was reaching for the wall. “There’s nothing there,” Jay pressed his hands on a few of the stones, attempting to prove a point. “Se-” he was cut off as one pushed in and a drawer popped out of the wall; inside were two indents. “Wait, that looks like the thing Ma took to the Backsmith shop! But where is it?” he looked down at Lloyd, who was now looking up at him with his green eyes almost glowing. “How did you know about this?”
