The town, New Shoreham, encompasses all of Block Island, RI, located 12 miles off the Rhode Island coast. It is the smallest town in the smallest state (RI), incorporated in 1672, and governed by a council-manager system. The island is roughly 7x3 miles, with over 43% of its land protected as open space.

Loosely inspired by Baby's Breath & A Brush With Death
When Severus heard the Prophecy of a baby born in late July, he sent a letter to his best friend, warning her that her pregnancy may be cursed. The newly pregnant Lily, engaged to James Potter, warned the other pregnant woman in the order, due around the same time as her. Lily & James got married quickly, left The Order, and went into hiding-- they even sent a letter to the Dark Lord waving their proverbial white flag. Yet, Halloween of 1981 still happened, as did Christmas of 1985. James Potter and Lily Potter-Evans were dead, while Frank Longbottom and Alice Fortescue were tortured to insanity. Harry was still sent to live with the Dursley's, and Neville still went to live with his grandmother.

Summary
Belle is not unaware of her station; they are destitute to put it mildly. She was born in Saint-Céneri-le-Gérei, Normandy. Middle child of Maurice Farrow, her mother (Aliénor Bassett) a victim to the Black Death; she has two sisters, an older sister named Elodie, and a younger sister named Amelia. They moved to the village of Ribeauvillé located within the Alsace region of France months later, the villages nearly 455 miles apart. When she was only 3 years old alongside her parents' young Belle travelled to Lille where her mother ended up dying in her ancestral home.
Gaston Desmarais, oldest of five sons belonging to Pierre Desmarais and Cosette De La Cour. They had always lived in Alsace although his mother was raised in Strasbourg, her own mother being a lady in waiting. Pierre had been a tax collector by trade, musician by passion. Cosette had been a governess prior to marriage. He went off to war at a mere 16 years old, his father too ill to fight but too proud to admit such. Pierre died during the second winter of the war, swiftly following the next two sons went to Paris to find better employment opportunities. Gaston opened his own tavern and became a hunter upon returning.
