"This decade’s human, of course, is not the first of the fallen. Far from it, in fact--the bed of golden flowers carpeting the cave’s floor were practically terraformed into soft cushions waiting for a visitor. Waking with a groan, he remembers the fall--seeing the stalactites as they shrunk further from view and watching helplessly as the blinding light blended and flashed into dark purple shadows, surely minutes of ceaseless descent before a blunt yet somehow gentle impact on the forgiving ground. Oddly enough, however, he remembers nothing before--he recalls the fall in vivid detail, but nothing that came before.

Summary
His gaze passes over an old photograph and he immediately averts his eyes, deciding to instead resume his staring out the window.
He’s had that photo up forever, but he hasn’t yet brought himself to take it down. It was taken during a simpler time, and it’s one of the few evidences he has that such a time ever existed. The image of himself, Karl and Quackity giving stupid grins to the camera hurts to look at, but if there’s no pain, then there might as well not be any good either, right?
Thinking about the photograph and its carefree subjects gives an odd twist to Sapnap’s gut, so he tries not to think about it. He tries not to think about how empty Kinoko’s streets are, how few people from that happier time he has left. He doesn’t think about how everybody he ever loved either hates him, is corrupted or imprisoned, or sleeping.

Sapnap and Quackity were sure that their relationship was irreparable, but when Karl loses a life and comes back without any memory of either of them, they're forced to navigate a new normal.
Nobody does a perfect job at adjusting.

Summary

Yamaguchi's footsteps come to a full halt, and for a moment he seems completely frozen, but with his face still turned away, he lets out an amused snort.
"That wouldn't be enough to convince me, sorry.”
He seems to think it’s a joke, a hypothetical, unlikely idea. Unfortunately (especially for Tsukishima), it’s not.

Kuroo Tetsurou never particularly liked books or words or reading, but when each school day brings a new poem written by a mysterious author hidden away in his desk, he's inclined to make an exception. Things tend to change, after all - in fact, he never particularly liked Yaku Morisuke, but he would be quick to change his mind on that, too.
