At the start hadn’t even been aware that he was doing it, but ever since that first meeting, he had kept an eye out for him.
Gon would lean against the railing of the boat on summer afternoons, eyes following the waves, trying desperately to spy a glimpse of that hair below the surface, or the sliver shine of his tail against the sun.
On late nights when he couldn’t sleep, he would open his little port window and stick his head out. The wind would be harsh, it would wake him up and keep his eyes sharp. And he would look. He would search.
He never, ever, expected to find him here.

Gon has spent his teen years sailing the seas as a pirate and searching for his father. When his captain decides they’re going to hunt down something that belonged to him - an infamous treasure no one has ever seen before, or is even sure is real - he thinks this might be his chance to find him.

Megumi smiled. He smiled crookedly, his beautiful lips curving to one side. Yuuji felt like he was seeing things; the hit must have left him insane, because now he was having visions. He had never seen Fushiguro Toji smile. This was new. This was crazy. It was as if Toji had lost twenty years and was smiling. Total madness.
Or
Megumi works at his veterinary clinic now and has a completely legal and normal life. He was naive to believe he would never have to set foot in his father's club again, until Toji drags a bloodied boxer into his apartment.
