Billy only needs one thing in life, and that's knowing Max is safe. Neil stays off his back, Susan can quit compulsively cleaning the house out of stress, and Billy can sleep at night knowing Max is in his nest, safe and sound.
He doesn't expect to start to feel that same need extend towards her little pack of runts. And he certainly doesn't expect to have to fight Steve Harrington over it.

Summary
The redhead moves closer to Hargrove, kneeling on some of Will’s drawings. He groans softly, like he can sense her approaching, and one of his hands flinches. By the pathetic sound he makes, Steve thinks the jerk isn’t in attack mode any more; he might actually be trying to get away from her.
“You’re okay, dipshit,” Max sighs before turning to the police chief. “He will be okay, right?”
“Should be,” Hopper replies, though by the way his mouth twitches nobody really buys it.
“Maybe Hargrove should go to the hospital too,” Dustin offers, his brows knitting together. “He kind of got punched a few times, and that tranquilizer was meant for Will. But, like, possessed Will.”
“Your choice, kid.”
Max turns towards Hopper, confused.
“What do you mean?”
—This is an AU which starts at the end of s2 and tries to fill in some of the gaps. This is also my attempt at having Hopper and Joyce more or less adopt Max and Billy. The usual background pairings apply, but this is mainly a Harringrove story with implied Byler.

Summary
At first Billy had hated the stupid kids show, with its bright pastel palette and mind-numbing repetitive songs—how everyone is just so goddamn cheery all the time! But the more episodes he’s been forced to consume, the more get gets used to it. Hell, he’s even started looking forward to it.
The fact that the host, Mr. H, looks like sex on legs makes the whole thing a little more palatable. Billy could watch that dude file taxes and he’d still be entertained. But you can’t blame Billy—dude’s a total knock-out.
“I wish Mr. H was my daddy,” Max says wistfully from across the couch.
And shit, that makes two of ‘em.
Or, Billy’s living life as, essentially, a single dad to a six-year-old Max who’s obsessed with Mr. Roger’s style kids show that Steve is the host of.
So when the famous Mr. H comes to town for a Meet & Greet, Billy’s gotta take Maxine, right? For her sake. The fact that Billy’s got a total hard on for the guy’s got nothing to do with it.- Language:
