Pity? No… it’s something worse. I can’t decipher it; it’s too unfamiliar. “Hmm. You’re more disappointing than I thought you’d be.”

    “What’s that supposed to mean?” I demand. “I’m the most renowned upcoming dancer in the world right now. I just performed for over fifteen hundred people, including you.”

    She gives me an appraising look. I don’t like the way she stares at me—like she can see through me.

    “I meant your personality.”
