Summary
Dean sold his soul to save Sam and before he goes to Hell, he wants to give him one last year. Problems arise though as the year goes on, and Dean inches closer to hell.
This story shows Dean's struggle with his Hell date getting closer, Sam getting brother time and not knowing about the tragedy that is about to unfold, and Bobby stands as a support systems for the deteriorating Dean and naive Sam.

Mike is alone.
Will and El are in California, Nancy and Jonathan are off at college, and Mike is stuck in Hawkins, alone with his mind.
Despite all that he's been through and all that he's seen, he spends the sleepless nights leafing through every drawing and sketch that Will has given him over the years. Will is the light in the shadowy depths of Mike's mind, keeping him grounded.
When Mike begins to think that his light no longer shines for him, he breaks under the weight of the darkness.
