I read this so long ago and only found it again just recently, and yet the way it hits me is still the same. In the end, what I loved the most was the Doctor's description of what death was, in the narrative of a near immortal who had time and space at his fingeertips

The insight as to the relationship between Kintoki and Shuuten is something that is both funny and bittersweet, in the way that it ties into their ingame lines and simultaneously gives new meaning to them.

There is something just magical in this, in how Houtarou's personality is captured perfectly. Somehow in both "lives" he's just so smitten and I love it. Chitanda changed both his lives and the parallels are just. wow.
