"No, nononono, Sasuke," Naruto desperately grasps at Sasuke's shirt, now fully died a rusty brown copper. He can already feel the elaborate seal tugging. "Seals are my thing, you son of a bitch!"
"Dobe," Sasuke smirks but it's more of an endearment now. Naruto just wants to see his face one more time but these goddamned tears-
"Y-you have to come after me, yeah?" Naruto blabbers. "Promise me, teme. Promise me, Sasuke."
Sasuke... doesn't answer."I love you." It was a phrase unspoken and Naruto had wished that Sasuke would've said it for the first time after this five-going-six year war. He can feel the pull of the seal and I don't know what to do- helpmeSasuke.
He opens his mouth and Naruto wants to scream at him, yell and demand why? but he-

The seal fully activates, the runes shimmering across his limbs, weaving throughout his body and latching onto his soul, his chakra. No. Nonono. Naruto gets pulled fifteen years into the past.

It technically wasn't a violation of orders for Itachi to help foster Naruto's fuuinjutsu talent.
Hiruzen had only ordered away those who had a close relationship with Minato and Kushina. It just happened to be that practically anyone who could do anything about Naruto's treatment was on that list. It came with the territory of one being their leader and another being one of the friendliest people to ever exist in Konoha.
Technically, Itachi wasn't close to them while they were alive. He wasn't even in the academy yet when they died.
Genma just wished it didn't make it harder to keep Naruto out of Danzo's grubby little hands.
