“What’s a name?” the boy asks curiously, seeming to have dropped all the aggression (or most of it) from earlier once Tommy has introduced himself. His eyes are widened and his brows are furrowed.
“Well,” Tommy says, struggling a bit on terms of how to explain what a name exactly is. “It’s something that people call you”
At once, the boy’s name seems to brighten. “I have a lot of names then!”
Tommy nods, thinking that he’s explained it thoroughly. Man, he’s so cool. “Can I hear some?”
The boy nods but the moment he says the first word, Tommy’s heart drops seemingly from Mt. Prime down to the other side of the world.
“The people in the village nearby call me lots of names! Like Freak, Stupid Boy, Monster and there’s another one! It’s kind of long though—because it’s three words. Get Out Of Here is another name!”
