Summary
By the time they pull up to the venue, Buck is regretting everything.
Eddie looks unfairly good. A dark button-down clings just right, tucked into dark wash jeans that make his boots look sharper than usual. His hair is pushed back, neat but still soft, and Buck catches the faint trace of his date cologne—the good stuff, the one Buck could pick out from across a room.
It shouldn’t matter that Eddie looks good. Buck doesn’t even know why he cares. Ravi looks nice, too. Buck looks nice. His button-down is open over a dark undershirt, sleeves rolled up to bare his forearms—casual, effortless. Eddie even told Buck he looked good when he’d gotten in the car.
The place is nice—strings of fairy lights across the patio, a banner that says Hearts on fire! Meet your soulmate! with little burning hearts decorating the corners. Ravi is texting in the backseat, muttering to himself as he shoots off a message to his friend that's hosting the event, while Buck just grips the steering wheel a little too tight—his knuckles pale with the tension of his clenched fists.

Ravi takes Buddie to a speed dating event. They find love.

“Chim, can you toss me that box of gloves from the top cupboard, please?”
As soon as he said the words, Buck had reacted, flinging himself upright and pressing his body back against the arm of the couch as if he were desperate to escape Eddie's touch. Luckily for Buck, Eddie was the only one who caught it, everyone else in the vicinity too concerned with their own tasks.
“Gloves!” Chimney announced, before launching the small, cardboard dispenser box across the dining area at Eddie, who caught it cleanly.
“Fuuuck…” Buck whined, eyes set on Eddie as if he couldn't look away.
“Stop complaining, you've been through worse than this!” Eddie laughed, wiggling his fingers into the first glove. Though, by the look on Buck's face, you'd think he categorically had not been through worse than this. The man looked utterly tortured, flushing brighter than Eddie had ever seen him before and–
