Summary
Bucky’s lips twitch, but he doesn’t open his eyes so Clint sprawls on the platform opposite and tangles their legs together. It’s nice, the platform moving with the gentle motion of the lake, the wood warmed by the sun. Bucky’s been out of the water long enough that his skin is warm and dry where they’re tangled together.

After they save the world, Clint's edges are jagged and raw and he doesn't know what he's supposed to do with himself. Normal's so far in the rear view mirror, it's like it was never real. He has no clue who he is without Natasha by his side. Time passes and that's supposed to be healing, but he's no better. Still lost. And the only one who could ever get him to pull his head out of his ass isn't coming back. Unless...
Clint has a probably terrible idea, but time travel's a thing they can do now. Of course Clint hadn't counted on Barnes jumping onto the platform and everything after that point is on Barnes. If he'd left well enough alone, none of this would have happened.

Clint is about to move on when his eyes drift up to the lettering at the top of the window.
FREE PASSAGE TO THE WEST!
Clint knows that the circus folk mock him — call him too trusting, too soft-hearted — but even he knows nothing in this life comes free. The words puzzle him, and he reads them again carefully to make sure he hasn’t made a mistake.
His eyes are drawn to one posting at the very bottom corner, different from the others. This one is sun-faded and starting to yellow, curling at the corners. Clint crouches down, brow furrowing and lips moving as he sounds out the unfamiliar words.
